How to organize HolidayCheck review days and campaigns
The HolidayCheck Code of Conduct allows the organization of review days and campaigns in the hotel at which guests have an opportunity to write and hand in hotel reviews directly and in person. In the following you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions.
What is a HolidayCheck review day or review campaign?
During a HolidayCheck review day or review campaign, guests have the opportunity to write and submit hotel reviews directly at the hotel. The hotel is responsible for the organization.
Please ensure that your actions are in accordance with our Code of Conduct. It is not permitted to put pressure on guests, to write reviews for them, or to influence them during the review submission process.
Reviews collected during a review day or review campaign will go through our standard verification process, which may take a few days.
Can hotel-owned devices be used for reviews?
Yes, the accommodation can provide guests with a device (e.g. a review terminal or tablet) so that they can write their reviews.
What if the guest uses their own device but the accommodation's internet. Will this review be recognised as "fake"?
It is not relevant whether a guest uses their own device with the hotel's internet, or a device provided by the hotel. It is also not a problem if guests use the hotel's IP address while still on holiday or write the review when they are back home.
What if the hotel provides a dynamic IP address?
All reviews go through the same review process, which is not dependent on the IP address. It is therefore irrelevant for the review process whether reviews are submitted directly at the hotel or after the holiday.
Can guests also leave a review in other languages? Which languages are supported?
Guests have the option of writing a review in German or English. Reviews in other languages cannot be accepted. English reviews can only be submitted via the provided link or QR code which you can find in your Business Center under the heading "Promo Tools". Like all other reviews, English reviews also go through our review process and are automatically translated into German after publication.
Can guests leave a review at any time during their stay?
Guests have the opportunity to leave a review at any time during their stay. However, we recommend writing a review at the end of the stay to include as many aspects of the holiday as possible.
Why should I inform HolidayCheck in advance about the review day or review campaign?
The information about review days helps us to anticipate and understand a sudden increase in reviews on a particular day for your hotel. If there is an unusually high number of incoming reviews, our system can identify these as potentially fake, which can lead to a longer review process.
Is there a risk of our hotel being labelled with a warning?
There is no risk of being labelled with a warning as long as you follow the rules of our Code of Conduct.
Can I give guests special gifts when they review the hotel?
It is permitted to give your guests a small gift in exchange for a review. This gift should be unrelated to the content of the review and must be worth less than 10 euros. For example, you can treat your guests to a drink at the bar.
Can I organize a special event such as a dinner or a raffle?
It is permitted to organize a special event for the assessment day or the assessment campaign. It is also permitted to organize a raffle with all guests who have submitted a review, as long as the value of the prize is less than 10 euros.
How can I motivate my guests to write a review on HolidayCheck?
Simply integrate your personalised QR code in your after-travel mail to your guests and ask them to leave a review. You can find your personalised QR code in the Business Center.
You also have the option of using our HolidayCheck review tool to easily remind your guests to leave a review after their stay. Your guests can enter their e-mail address in the field provided and will receive an automatic e-mail reminder about a week later to submit a review for your accommodation. You will find the link for the review tool in your Business Center under "Promo tools" .
