More visibility & better discoverability on HolidayCheck and Google

A well-maintained hotel profile not only helps you to be found more easily on the HolidayCheck website, but also increases your chances of appearing in Google search results. Relevant and authentic content, as well as a large number of authentic guest reviews, are the key to this.

1. Relevant Content & Keywords

What are keywords and why are they important?

Keywords are terms or phrases that potential guests use when searching on search engines like Google. Skillfully including them in your hotel description within the Business Center helps your HolidayCheck hotel profile appear more prominently in search results.

Example: A guest searches for “wellness hotel Black Forest” → Hotels that include this term in their description have a higher chance of being found for that search query.

Hotel description and highlights

  • Emphasize your USPs and highlight what makes your hotel unique: Use your hotel description to showcase what sets your property apart (e.g., “Central wellness hotel in Seville,” “All major sights within walking distance,” “Stunning panoramic views of the Black Forest,” ). Try to appeal to guests on an emotional level (e.g., “Relax with a massage in our spa while enjoying the tranquility of the Baltic Sea”).
  • Use targeted keywords to clearly describe your offer: Incorporate terms that potential guests are likely to search for, such as “Wellness hotel by Lake Constance,” “Hiking in the Black Forest,” or “Family holidays in the Allgäu.”
  • Keep it natural: Even when using keywords, always write authentic, natural-sounding texts. Overusing keywords (keyword stuffing) can have a negative impact on your ranking.
  • Answer common guest questions: Try to address frequently asked questions directly in your hotel description. Think about what guests often ask you on-site and use your HolidayCheck profile to provide clear, helpful information — for example, whether you offer vegan breakfast options or how far your property is from the nearest airport or beach.
  • Ensure good structure and readability: Write for potential guests. Your hotel description should be easy to read, engaging, and informative. Structure your text into clear paragraphs and use bullet points where appropriate to make key information easily scannable.
  • Be comprehensive: Aim to describe your hotel as completely as possible in the Business Center. We recommend adding detailed information for each of the following categories:
    o   General hotel information
    o   Location
    o   Rooms and accommodation
o   Dining options (in-house or nearby)
o   Sports and entertainment (including excursions and recommendations)
    o   Additional facilities and services
  • Write in German: The HolidayCheck website is optimized for the German-speaking market. Our target audience is based in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and your hotel profile is displayed exclusively in German to potential guests.

Create Unique Content

Search engines like Google prioritize unique and original content. If identical text appears on multiple websites, it can negatively affect rankings. Therefore, avoid copying text from your own website or other hotel or review platforms. Duplicate content harms both your hotel website’s ranking and your HolidayCheck profile. Always write an original hotel description — it not only performs better on Google but also resonates more with guests.

2. Tips for better visibility on Google

  • Link from your website: We recommend adding a link from your hotel’s website to your HolidayCheck profile. This allows Google to establish a connection between your hotel and our platform, which builds credibility and helps your guests easily find where to leave a review. If you manage your website yourself, this link can usually be added in your site editor. Alternatively, you can ask your agency or web designer to include it for you.
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for your own hotel website: SEO means optimizing your hotel’s website so that it appears higher in Google search results when someone searches for your hotel name or hotel type (e.g., “wellness hotel in the Black Forest”).
Improving your own website’s visibility on Google often requires technical adjustments. We therefore recommend consulting a marketing agency for a tailored SEO strategy for your website.

3. Tips for better visibility within HolidayCheck (Search & Listings)

  • Accurate categorization: Many users apply specific filters when searching for the perfect hotel. Therefore, make sure to select the most accurate hotel categories for your property (e.g., resort, beach hotel, family hotel, etc.) and provide precise details about your amenities (e.g., pool, childcare, spa, proximity to the beach, etc.). This ensures your hotel appears correctly in relevant HolidayCheck search results and lists.
  • Boost your visibility by taking advantage of our diverse range of advertising formats, including native and display ads, as well as social media and push campaigns.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   All advertising formats
